Alternative Wedding Venue Manchester at Victoria Baths | Mor & Lee
Mor and Lee’s Manchester wedding is one that I won’t be forgetting any time soon, the perfect blend of two cultures celebrating in a city they clearly both love. With Mancunian undertones running throughout their day it really was the perfect mixture of the couple and truly reflected their love and creativity, set in the always beautiful Victoria Baths
Mor and her family got ready at The Princess Street Hotel Manchester, Mor opting for a pretty special alternative wedding dress layered up with a pink duster jacket and traditional shoes from Mor’s Home country she looked ace. They were then all good to go and heading over to Victoria Baths for the Festivities that were going to be held under the one roof from ceremony, to reception and finally the party!
Lee was waiting patiently at the end of the aisle looking smart in his double breasted suit surrounded by some ace locally sourced flower sculptures and candles from The Flower Studio. Mor chose to walk down the aisle with both parents, selecting the male first class pool as their ceremony location which is a grand sloped tiled pool with a tall glass roof that allows the beautiful light to pour in and makes for great protection on those typically rainy Manchester days.
Mor and Lee decided to write their own vows which I always think is lovely and makes the ceremony even more personal. With the vows in the bag and comfortably coated in confetti Mor and Lee headed over to the Turkish Bath’s for some drinks.
The Turkish baths is an interior dream and needs no decoration, with cocktails and sweets lined up the couple got to relax and chat with their guests before the reception, even offering a guided tour of the Baths for those wanting to know more about the building (which I definitely would recommend its a great piece of architecture!)
Attention to detail was definitely a feature at Mor and Lee’s wedding as was a focus on local indie suppliers, the table settings were immaculately laid out as was the cake table from Trove and the sporadically placed Japanese lanterns that cascaded over the dancefloor.
The couple chose the Male second class pool as their location for dinner, which is a smaller version of the Male First class pool but no less dramatic and made for the perfect backdrop as their friends and family made speeches and enjoyed family style food in the form of the Chaat Cart. The best man kindly made a batch of homebrew that was enjoyed by all if not a little lively!
After dinner we went for a wander around the vast Grade ll* listed building, with Mor having a quick change into some black accessories. I captured some portraits of the couple from dancing in the pool to having a little rest in the abandoned apartment upstairs.
There are so many opportunities for portraits at Victoria Baths and so much amazing light but I wanted Mor & Lee to enjoy their day that they had planned so well. We headed back down just in time for Post dinner drinks from Bean and Bubble and not long after the evening guests started to arrive.
One thing that was a massive takeaway from their amazing wedding is that their friends and family were not shy on the dance floor and the couple even bagged Clint Boon for their evening DJ set, kicking off with their first dances which was She Bangs the Drums | Stone Roses, and the floor was never empty after that with a mix of Indie and Mancunian classics.
