The Tetley is a venue I’ve been to plenty of exhibitions and visited but hadn’t photographed a wedding there. So when I heard from Emma and Joe I was excited to capture their city centre wedding at the Tetley. They decided to host the ceremony across town at the Leeds Civic Hall. It’s a beautiful building with plenty of character and large windows with loads of lovely light. I’m surprised it’s not used as often as the Leeds Town Hall!

The morning of the wedding Emma and Joe both got ready in separate apartments in town just down the corridor from each other. It’s also great to be able to pop in and document both sides to the preparations. The guys were busy getting ready, while the ladies were putting finishing touches to the flowers and relaxing.

After a lovely ceremony, we all hopped onto a vintage double-decker bus to the Tetley wedding reception. With both Emma & Joe being designers they had pulled together some great details including an ace ampersand focused table plan. At the end of the drinks reception that was held in the gallery space, we all popped outside to capture a few relaxed portraits while the guests made their way to the seats. There’s plenty of space around the Tetley to use for different photos without having to wander too far at all.

Before dinner was served we were treated to speeches. This included a special cover of Madness – It must be love from some friends of the couple which had everyone singing along. Post wedding breakfast everyone moved into the main bar area for cake cutting and the all-important party action.
